Design inspiration with the use of Twitter

What with a busy schedule on at work its straight down to business when you sit at your desk as its all about making money, but sometimes you need time to absorb new inspiration to breathe life into your thinking and to expose yourself to new ideas and technologies to help you progress.

One idea maybe is to take yourself out of your usual working environment and think differently about what you do, for instance our company had a training session on how to think differently and brainstorm new ideas by picking out random objects in the front garden and searching through books for images from which we could juxtapose ideas together, it was very refreshing, Wink see how we got on.

In other situations time is of the essence and you need to immerse yourself in creativity quite quickly – here is a breakdown of how to make sure we do good creative. I suggest giving Twitter a try to help ideas flow, if you’re following a good bunch of people with the same interest they may shed light on your situation in one form or another, especially if your confined to a working space on your own. Ask a question to fellow designers in the industry - when you don’t receive constructive criticism, it’s all too easy to believe your work’s the best as it’s always good when a fellow designer gives it to you straight prior to any client communication. If you’re freelancing this is a great tool to use as you can almost position yourself in several offices at once, if you use Twitter efficiently, getting real time feedback. My advice is to keep an open mind and take on board comments and opinions of people close to as well as on Twitter as not everyone will have time to familiarise themselves with your design brief.

You can also use Twitter Search to help engage inspiration and ideas and use it to see what people are talking about under a few key words like 'web design',  'marketing' design techniques' etc. It's just another way to evolve inspiration.

Also I found some inspiring designers to follow on Twitter to get you started, so thanks for your time and please leave a comment below and tell me how you think Twitter can inspire to you.

I think you are so right - we need to constantly take time out to think so that we can add value to our work and our lives
It is a constant amazement what a blur most of us live in and we would do well to remember to pick daisys!
